Who We Are

The HCR ManorCare Foundation is an independent, not-for-profit corporation created to provide funding and support for organizations, programs and projects that advance the well-being of the elderly, individuals requiring post-acute care services and those requiring hospice or palliative care. Since its inception in 1997, the Foundation has awarded nearly $8 million in grants, providing much-needed financial backing to more than 100 worthy organizations.

The chief aim of our Foundation is to encourage and perpetuate the type of programs that best serve our nation's elderly community by enhancing quality of life. In support of this mission, grants have been extended to organizations throughout the country for research, public education, and community-based service programs in various stages of development. By sponsoring projects that promote dignity, independence, and a sense of well-being, we seek to not only elevate the overall quality of life of our nation's seniors, but also to raise public consciousness in support of this goal.

In addition to our grant program, the HCR ManorCare Foundation also sponsors a variety of charitable programs and activities.  These include the Volunteer Grant Program, which provides funding to support the volunteer efforts of HCR ManorCare employees who take an active role in non-profit organizations in their communities.  The Foundation also manages the Hospice Memorial Fund, which provides funding to assist hospice patients and their families in financial need, supports public awareness campaigns that communicate the importance of hospice care, and educates the public and medical professionals about hospice and palliative care.  The Hospice Memorial Fund also supports a variety of bereavement programs, including children's grief camps.  These programs operate independently of our general grant program, and are addressed in greater detail in the sections following the Grant Application portion of this site.
